man oh man, somehow it all happened so fast yet so so slowly, painstakingly slowly. my first day seems like a lifetime ago but i remember every detail like yesterday.

the spectrum of work i have done is so huge, our first cycle (first half of the first sem) was kinda random but i did scratch animation, live sketching everywhere (railway station) and observational studies of trees? then the second cycle was a study of the portrayal of beauty and ugly in society, media and so on. that was quite interesting looking back on it now. along with these studios i also had a psych-ish class on learning and a free drawing, medium study. aaaand that was the end of semester 1.

sem 2 started with a bang, started with an eventful trip to kutch to say the least, then some more exploring. we did some stop motion, graphics, clay work, film work and a lot of faffing hehe. learning something new every step of the way.

a couple of things i learnt along the way:

  1. don’t get lost. know who you are and know your values and stay true to them.
  2. being anxious about your work is only productive till you're doing your work. sometimes the best work you produce happens when you go with the flow.
  3. it’s okay to change and outgrow people but learn to be okay with it when some outgrow you too.
  4. group dynamics are not your problem alone, build and cultivate your personal connections and enjoy them.
  5. ‘selling’ your work or the concept behind it is as important as making it. if you can’t sell your work, why will anyone buy it.
  6. don’t take yourself too seriously, nobody else is.(still working on this one)

we had our lil fun too, from dressing up as t swift for halloween, to tearing my ghagra on garba night, to finding the rancho and farhan to my raju, to finding our bermuda, to the one game night, to the mango milkshake after cse, to finding the cards in the drawyers, to finding the perfect burger, to hating on mahavir and dmart nut still ending up there, to late night fresh runs, to saying bye to get on a call 10 mins later, to together together both together, to finding my garba partner, to having an unofficial roommate, to treking to college in a different way each sem, to making new friends, to them becoming family.

thank you first year, you were an absolute dream.

this previous year has been a whirlwind. at the end of the day, every low was worth it for every high. i’ve made friends i hope i never lose and found myself in ways i never knew.

i hope the coming years continue to help me grow and develop as holistically as i have this year. may i remain open-minded and passionate to explore everything this field has to offer. and i hope i check in here every once in a while!

see u soon heh
